Des Moines River Lock House Door

Lock House #10 was constructed in 1855 as part of the Des Moines River Improvement Project near Eldon, Iowa. A series of 28 locks were to provide barge traffic from the Mississippi to Des Moines, Iowa. The project was abandoned in 1857 due to Railroad bridges crossing the river and slow construction.
